The Twin Souls: Books 1 & 2 of The Eternity Series:
A person can have many soul mates in a lifetime but, each person has
only one twin soul in each life. This belief taught to me by my
grandmother is one that has always filled me with wonder. As a young
child, she often sat next to me in front of the fire blazing brightly in
our tipi and spoke of the legend of the twin souls. The legend is as
old as creation itself.
It is said that as the creator was making
human beings he was surrounded by souls to place in them. The creator
decided to take a single soul and split it in half creating twin souls.
He then took the two twin souls and touched them together as light as a
butterfly’s kiss. The twin souls were then separated and placed
respectively into man and woman.
The creator lightly touched them
together so that when they meet one day, they will recognize the other’s
soul as their twin. This is because they have already met at the
beginning of creation and will immediately feel as if they have known
each other forever.
I am “Sumanitu taka kici mani wiya” which means
she who walks with the wolf and live with my elderly grandmother,
Shetawahki, who is a revered elder and medicine woman of the Lakota
Sioux Nation and part of the Roaming Wolf Sioux Tribe.
This book is a historical paranormal romance set in the west during in the time the white settlers came and the Indian Nation people roamed freely. There are two separate stories. In the first book you will meet half white and half Indian Juliana Dodge orphaned as a twenty year old maiden who lives on the fort and is ridiculed when everyone finds out about her half breed status. She meets the handsome Blackfoot warrior, Cheveyo and things take off from there but, life is not easy for them and they have many challenges to overcome. Is their vow to be together strong enough to stand against the white soldiers? Will their love endure?
In book 2:
you meet She Who Walks with Wolves, the Sioux Chief's daughter who is destined to be with Shadow Hawk, the Blackfoot Chief Cheveyo's son. They find out they are Twin Souls. But, will their love be strong enough to stand through what is to come? Will her supernatural blessing from the Great Spirit truly be a blessing or a curse in her life? As one reader put it, "There are so many twists and turns that you don't see coming and they keep you reading until the very end. I had to read it all in one sitting."

The narrative emphasises the theme of twin souls, their instant recognition and desperate desire to be with each other against all odds. Newhouse paints romance effortlessly in such a way as to allow it to be realistic, passionate, bold and transcendental. There is a wonderful closeness and merging that is achieved, and readers interested in close romance will enjoy the special qualities conferred on the characters, such as being able to feel each other’s emotions and thoughts, and being able to transfer pain when needed. Newhouse also handles love from other relationships, such as brotherly, fatherly and motherly love, with sincerity, realism and compassion. The book is artistic and spiritual without compromising on suspense and passion. This is a wonderful combination and I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in a bold cultural romance which is not pretentious and yet contains important ideals regarding the spiritual concept of male and female twin souls." Review of Three Rules by Marie Drake - April 24, 2015

The author Marie Drake lives in a small town near Lake Ontario with her husband and children. She is an admirable and inspirational person being a foster parent takes a special kind of person and being a survivor of abuse, I have a feeling she has overcome and broken the cycle within her life and that in itself is extremely admirable. I too am a survivor of Domestic Violence that ended with my two year old twins and myself being shot and barely survived at the hands of my ex-husband and a survivor of rape at 16 years old by a man I looked up to as a big brother. My own journey was long and hard and while I have never been a child abuse victim like Hope was in the story, everything she feels, contemplates, agonizes over and discovers about herself through the course of the story was eerily similar to my own journey to reaching the status of survivor and was like replaying my own past. I too overcame everything that happened to me in my life and am now an activist, marriage and family therapist, and victim traumatologist, trying to help juries to understand that when a victim testifies, they may not act in a way that the jury considers to be stereotypical of a victim and why that is.
Three rules has been written from a place within the heart and soul of our author, this reviewer can see that as plain as day from my own experiences. I deeply commend Marie Drake for using the unique prose that not only conveys the depth of the complexity, abuse victims and survivors go through but in a way that those who have never experienced it can understand as well. For those of us who have, the story can be a big trigger to our own past abuse but it can also be incredibly freeing as we go through the story with Hope and when I say freeing, for me it meant feeling joy over another survivor being able to overcome her abuser's hold on her past, present and future as well as his hold on her memories, emotional and mental states of mind and speaking out to others about it. It reminds me of my own journey and how my steps were similar to Hope's. It is never over for the victim or the survivor, not really. There is no cure all that makes the abuse go away but, with time, love, and a great network of support and respect, it becomes bearable to live with and frees the soul to the point of being able to feel again and most importantly feel happiness in life once again and for the survivor, to find him or herself again as well. Thanks to my past experiences, my training and my profession, I was able to read between the lines and read deeper into the meaning of Hope's story as it might relate to the author as a survivor herself of abuse and was able to do so. I highly admire and commend Author Marie Drake for tackling a very complex issue that is clearly not as black and white as society wants to believe and she tackles it in such a way to not only bring awareness to it but helps others gain to understand that very complexity. I could clearly see just how much of her very soul the author put into the writing of this magnificent fiction story full of suspense and twists and turns the reader won't see coming until it smacks them in the face and I also pray the writing of this story also helped the author to free her own soul a bit as well.
The story is well-written, descriptive in such a way as to give enough for the reader to understand but, not overmuch and leaves the reader to use their imagination and engages them in such a way as to drawn them right into Hope's world and make them believe they are seeing a movie and no longer reading a book and that in itself is an exceptional and natural born talent that many authors struggle to accomplish but for Drake, it seems to come naturally to her. She walks the fine line brilliantly between realism and fiction. The plot and character development are exceptional and the story flows smoothly throughout with it speeding up in some places and slowing back down to some places which also contributes to its ability to hook the reader and keep them hooked in the story until the very end. I was hooked from the first paragraph until the very end. I was drawn to the book especially because it was written by a survivor sister. I want to personally thank Author Marie Drake for her amazing story that is fiction but realistic enough that it could be happening to someone we all know and don't have any idea is happening to them without knowing what signs to look for. I will be recommending this book to my huge network of survivor brothers and sisters so they can experience the twists and turns and the heart breaking story with its empowering ending. I applaud your excellent ability in writing a terrific story and to make it beautifully profound, my survivor sister. God Bless you always and keep you safe from harm forever more.

Just
as devotees of certain television shows wish for longer seasons and more
episodes, readers of AJ Tipton’s “Her Elemental Viking Series” are left ending
one book reluctant to return to the world of reality and yearn for one more
page, one more book that will touch the heart and soul. In this regard, AJ
Tipton has been more than accommodating. In her continuation of this series, “Her
Fiery Viking: A Paranormal Romance (Her Elemental Viking Series),” AJ Tipton
writes in such a way that readers can feel as if they are right inside the book
and as if they have stopped reading and are now watching a movie play out that
only they can see and it is by far an amazing movie. This is a trait she shares
in common with some of history's greatest authors.
As
I read the well written and descriptive prose contained within this amazing
book, I was struck by the variety of emotions this fantastic author was able to
evoke within myself. As someone who loves books in the paranormal genre, I was
extremely fascinated by the depth of the characters contained within the lines
of this book for which the author has insightfully named. You meet Mikkel, who
has been cursed with one heck of a fiery temper that he’s unable to control. He
also can’t control his lust for the beautiful and Sexy Joanna who also has an
uncontrollable temper herself and who wants nothing to do with Mikkel, or at
least that’s what she leads others to believe. Their chemistry is an inferno of
heat, compassion and understanding. These two along with other characters in
the book will take you on a fast paced thrill ride of sexual tension, infernos
of epic proportions, anger issues and a love that can save all. It’s the kind
of love every woman wants and the kind of alpha male many women can only
fantasize about. Her Fiery Viking will take you for the ride of your life!
Many
of the themes in the book about loss, pain, chaos, anger, hilarious laughter
and that all-consuming love really resonated with this reviewer and kept me
fascinated with the story as I yearned to read faster and faster to see what
would happen next between the two. They will also resonate with readers of the
paranormal romance and romance genres who will not experience a single dull
moment while reading this amazing book!
A favorite part in the book is when Mikkel
yells at Joanna aka Jo to run away and she flat out tells him to shut up and
look at her now. The scenes are so realistic and believable as well as being
exceptionally written that one can’t helped but imagine being right there with
the two main characters in the story. The character development is exceptional
and realistic, the setting of the scenes had just enough description to capture
the reader’s attention but not overdo it, and the same can be said for the
dialogue between characters and the descriptions of the characters themselves. I
could really see everything while reading the book and that is a big plus with
me, especially when the author gives just enough to spark the reader's
imagination but not too much as to over-inform. The scenes lead logically in to
the following one and the story line flowed very nicely while the plot was
fantastic and well developed. There were minor grammatical errors here or
there, very few in fact and they were not significant enough to stop this
review from reading and would have never noticed them at all.
It
is often said that a truly amazing author always gives a part of his or her
soul in their writing and that can absolutely be said for AJ Tipton as well.
This amazing author has made a new fan out of this reviewer.
I
highly recommend this book to lovers of paranormal romance who seek out beloved
authors that can deeply move them and send them on a roller coaster ride of
various emotions throughout the story. Although, if you're not a fan of paranormal
romance and it's unique prose then this book is probably not for you.
I
definitely give this book 20 stars which is my highest praise for any book
because it is just that good!
