Book Description:

A PLACE TO DIE is the story of Sam Gholson when he discovers what it means to be haunted by a killer who has taken the life of his only brother. The labyrinthine trail will lead him through the hills of Kentucky in 1938 as he takes on the role of amateur investigator. The story envelopes all that is rare about the region and its peopletradition, loyalty and kindness as well as clannishness. Yet it stands alone in two important ways. First, it shows an underlying passion and support between two brothers, and it reveals a rare but dignified portrait of a sixteen-year-old boy struggling with the reality that his own life is in danger.
Even more importantly, however, A PLACE TO DIE describes the heart-wrenching effects of a boy alone, as he deals with moonshiners, bootleggers and a Machiavellian sheriff, and has only his vigilance, courage, and knowledge of the hills to depend on as he runs for his lifefrom the law with a warrant for his arrest and from a killer who is closing in on him.

Book Review:

Oh where to start? This book had me hooked from the first paragraph. This was a fantastic book! I can't give it enough praise and am absolutely in love with Author Rusty Savage's amazing ability as a writer and in how he has written a realistic storyline full of twists and turns you won't see coming. He gives the reader just enough to hook the imagination and not too much as to be wordy or that will turn the reader off. The well developed and complex storyline has a nice steady pace which is refreshing and yet leaves the reader wanting more.

The storyline is well thought out and brilliantly executed as well as being highly engaging. The plot, characters, scenes, settings, and dialogue were wonderful in their creation and complexity. A tremendous amount of hard work, heart and soul went into Author Savage's amazing creation in A Place to Die.

The character development was complex and realistic and yet left just enough to the readers imagination with the descriptions allowing the reader to really visualize what he or she is reading in a way that makes a profound impact upon them. The story line and magnificent and unpredictable plot had this reviewer on the edge of her seat while she went on an emotional roller coaster ride along with the characters.

If you have not read this book, make sure you read it today. I promise you it will be one of the best reads of your year or even your lifetime! I highly recommend this book to all readers who enjoy a fascinating storyline and well developed plot with many twists and turns!
